Since January 2025, the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) has received over 5,100 complaints regarding Account Takeover fraud, with total losses surpassing $262 million.

Account takeover fraud accounted for 82% of fraud attempts targeting the authentication process in the payments industry.
